& HEALING PROCESS
POST CARE
INSTRUCTIONS
Day 1 (treatment day):
Your brows have been cleaned and sanitized. A liquid bandaid has been applied to your brows. Avoid touching them unnecessarily. Keep them clean and dry.
Day 2-10:
You will be gently cleansing your brows and applying the provided ointment morning and night.
First, please wash your hands with antibacterial soap, and with clean fingertips, gently cleanse your brows with lukewarm water and the provided cleanser. Massage gently in the direction of your hair growth. Rinse, then blot them very dry with a clean paper towel. Do not wipe. Never use a towel (even freshly cleaned towels can harbor bacteria). Make sure brows are COMPLETELY DRY before applying the ointment.
With your clean fingertip apply a rice grain amount of the provided ointment on to each eyebrow. Do not oversaturate your brows with the ointment. It will impede your overall results. Just a rice grain amount on each brow. In this case, less is more!
If you have OILY SKIN, please blot your t-zone and eyebrows with an oil free and scent free blotting sheet as needed. The more oil you can absorb, the better your results will be.
Your results are heavily dependent on you following proper aftercare instructions. Every client’s skin responds differently to a cosmetic tattoo. This information acts only as a guideline. Results are not guaranteed.
Immediately following the procedure, you may experience minimal discomfort on the treated area. Some clients describe a sensation similar to a sunburn, including redness and swelling. These symptoms usually subside within 24 to 48 hours.
Redness, light swelling and tenderness are common after your cosmetic tattoo procedure. These are common and do not require medical attention.
The following symptoms are serious and DO require medical attention: red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature or purulent drainage from the procedure site. If you experience any combination of these last three symptoms please seek medical attention.
Things To Remember
Avoid touching your brows unnecessarily for 10 days. NO PICKING at brows or scabs. Please let your skin heal itself so you get the best results possible.
Avoid direct water on your eyebrows for 10 days (other than when cleansing brows).
You will not workout, or participate in any sweat inducing activities for 10 days while your brows are healing. Once you return to the gym, always rinse your eyebrows and face with warm water.
No tanning, swimming, saunas, or direct sun exposure (if you’re outdoors, you MUST wear a hat), for 14 days. After 14 days, sunblock on your brows is highly recommended.
No moisturizers, lotions, creams or products on eyebrows the first 14 days. Only use the provided ointment as directed.
No makeup on your brows for 10 days. If possible, avoid any makeup on your forehead for 10 days.
Avoid any facial treatments or other skin treatments for 4 weeks.
No Botox for 4 weeks.
Please sleep on clean pillow sheets for the first 10 days. Try to sleep on your back if possible for the first week.
Avoid tasks that may cause airborne debris to enter your fresh brows, such as heavy household cleaning, gardening, and animal contact.
THE HEALING
PROCESS
These examples are worst case scenarios and provided so you can understand what the most extreme healing process can be like. Most clients experience a mild version of these scenarios and many report back that it was not as bad as they expected. Please remember it is just 10 days of healing for brows that will last several years.
DAY 1
You’ve finally finished your long awaited appointment and “Oh my GOODNESS!” You are in love and so dang excited at how beautiful they came out. You’ve asked yourself why you’ve put this off for so long because you just can’t believe that THIS IS YOUR FACE! These are YOUR BROWS! You can’t wait to call your family and friends and show off how gorgeous you look! Do it girlfriend… you deserve to!
Immediately following the procedure, you may experience minimal discomfort on the treated area. Some clients describe a sensation similar to a sunburn, including redness and swelling. These symptoms usually subside within 24 to 48 hours.
DAYS 2-4
You wake up and remember Vanessa warned you that they would look fuller and bolder today, but you’re positive you’ll be okay with it. You go check yourself in the mirror and “OH WOW! Maybe they are bigger.” Yep, they do look thicker and darker than expected. That’s okay, because you’re prepared for this, and a few days of discomfort are TOTALLY worth having gorgeous, face framing brows designed just for you.
Remember, people do not notice things about us as much as we think they’re noticing. They look big TO YOU, but others just think you’ve put extra brow makeup on today. Own your brows! This bold phase will be over before you know it.
The first week the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bigger than the final result due to the wound healing process. Redness and swelling may still be present. It is also possible to still feel soreness/discomfort for a few days.
DAYS 5-10
You’re following your aftercare instructions to the “T” and suddenly you dry your brows and, “oh no, what’s this stuff on my paper towels? It’s all flaky!”
This is all normal. You have very thin and small “scabs” on your eyebrows. They are flaking off which is exactly what they should be doing. They will look better soon, I promise. You can totally do this, because YOU ARE AMAZING and can do anything you put your mind to!
Minimal scabbing and flaking will occur throughout the first few weeks of the healing period. DO NOT scratch or remove the scabs, this will result in loss of pigmentation and scarring. Let them naturally fall off. Some do not experience the dry flaking, and that is normal as well.
DAYS 11-28
“All my eyebrows have fallen off, and now I look just like when this process started. They look GREY and way too light! I’m going to call Vanessa!”
Again, this is part of your healing process, and guess what… you are almost through the hard part! I am so impressed with how much restraint and discipline you have! You’re amazing! You’ve entered the “light phase” where your pigment may appear way too faint. Your color will return around weeks 4-6.
Skin takes on average, 28-60 days to regenerate. During this phase, your skin is renewing itself, and covering your implanted pigment. Remember, your skin is a layer/filter over your new pigment. The color will lighten while your skin regenerates. Color can look up to 75% lighter during this period. Please don’t panic.
WEEK 4
“Whoa! I am starting to see the hairstrokes again, that’s so weird. I can’t wait for my follow-up to finish the shape and fill in some spots! Maybe I want to go darker, or bolder?”
Don’t they look amazing? And yes! Of course, we can go darker or bolder at your follow-up appointment. You are technically still in the healing process until about 6-8 weeks after your appointment. Not until then will you see your true results.
Your skin is still regenerating during this time so make sure to have a lot of patience with it, because it is a magical thing, and you should be so proud of yourself for riding this roller coaster healing process. You may think at times the color is too light or faded. If by your follow-up they are still too light, we can darken them up or adjust them.
AFTER TOUCH-UP
“Yessss she totally added more texture and dimension! I can really see them fuller and more defined. I’m so happy I trusted the process”
Your two appointments are now complete, and you are ready to slay the day with your perfect eyebrows! Remember to follow your aftercare instructions closely to get the best results possible! Once you’re fully healed you will have beautiful filled in eyebrows for 1.5-3 years before needing a touch-up! YAY!
Please remember permanent makeup will always heal softer and lighter than your appointment day. It is not intended to replace all eyebrow makeup, but instead, is meant to enhance your eyebrows to look natural, and to improve your daily life by making your eyebrows symmetrical, fuller, and more defined.
